Unlike her friend, Cleo Sertori who does not get along with her younger sibling, Emma shares a close relationship with her younger sibling, Elliot, and at often times she would try to comfort and reassure him whenever he’s unhappy. Used to her perfect family lifestyle, Emma admits feeling guilty whenever she had to lie to her brother or her parents. Unlike her popular classmate, Miriam Kent, Emma and her brother were taught to be respectful and truthful to one another. Her mother, Lisa Gilbert, was once a junior lifeguard and currently collects crystal figurines.ĭespite growing up in a more wealthier lifestyle than her friends, Emma lacks the personality of a snob. Out of all three girls, Emma grew up in a more stable environment as her father is a business man in sales and financial development. ![]() Unfortunately, due to protecting her mermaid secret, she had to quit the team. In her childhood and early years before her transformation, Emma was determined to train to become a skilled and famous swimmer someday, a dream she is forced to abandon after she was turned into a mermaid.Įmma dedicated most of her free time training and competing for her swim team, and had won countless trophies for it. Later, Emma's parents had another child, a son named Elliot, whom Emma shared a strong bond with. After years of friendship, she wasn’t aware that Cleo’s birthday parties had remained the same childish party, courtesy of Cleo's father, Donald Sertori. Because of her yearly intense training for her competitive swimming team, Emma had only attended Cleo’s first few childhood birthday parties, last being her sixth. Sometime during her childhood, Emma met Cleo Sertori and the two of them became close friends ever since to the point where Emma is aware of Cleo's bad singing. Because their parents are still close friends, however, the two of them continued to be friendly towards the other on some occasions. Despite their childhood companionship, Emma and Zane grew weary of each other as they grew older. When she was three years-old, she met Zane Bennett. When she was only six-months-old, she had been introduced into the world of swimming by her father. So, I give this show 8/10 rating, for a great plot, good humor, and episodes that you want to see at least twice.Emma Gilbert was born to Neil and Lisa Gilbert in either 1989 or 1990. It has a great assortment of characters (though, I do think a few skip between in and out of character), and plot twists when you least expect it (or think nothing else can go wrong for the three). The plot is, in fact, thicker than I would have thought possible from watching the first episode (So stick to it!). All in all, I would say this is a great, fun show. Having known Cleo for who knows how long, he is seen often, as more of a comic relief character who thinks he is a scientist, and is usually, if not asking the girls for hair samples, trying to figure out what is up with them. Off the top of my head I would say 'annoying', but I think there are depths to her personality that I keep overlooking. I am not really sure how to describe her. And well, we have the main characters: Emma, the cautious one, Rikki, the one in-your-face one, and Cleo, the. The 3 girls' personalities even out over the episodes. It turns out I wasn't that far off, but, in the end, it makes the show all the better. Now, my first impression of Rikki: Loud mouthed and cheeky. ![]() So, we meet Rikki, who stole something off someone's boat (Note to self : watch my wallet around her), and valiantly jumps into the boat she stole the item from, which Cleo is now in. Emma is an important character int he story, as without her I am sure Cleo and Rikki would have been goners from the start. Cleo is talking to this girl who is swimming, Emma. The characters' backgrounds and personalities are built up over the first few episodes, along with how they can cope with what is happening to them, but you have to stick with it or it won't make any sense. Who are the people she is talking to? The story starts off slow, and if you are only planning on seeing the first episode, steer away right now. The story starts off with Cleo being the main focus, and jumping right into her life, with her friends, enemies and family. One of my friends recommended this show to me, and once I saw the first episode, I didn't really know what to think.
